Also known as Lipoplasty or suction-assisted Lipectomy is a surgical procedure to remove unwanted fat from the body area to reshape and look slimmer. Liposuction is neither treatment of obesity nor a substitution for diet modification and exercise. After proper diet modification and exercise, residual fat can be removed by liposuction. Liposuction is not a weight reduction surgery. The most common body area include the abdomen, thigh, buttock, hip, calf, chin, neck, breast, and upper arm region. Return to work – 3-5 day
Aftercare – compression garments for 6 week
Complication – minimal but include are Bruising, Change in skin sensation that may persist, Damage to deeper structures such as nerves, blood vessels, muscles, lungs, and abdominal organs, Deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications, Fluid accumulation, Infection, Irregular contours, or asymmetries, Persistent swelling, Poor wound healing, Rippling or loose skin, worsening of cellulite, Swelling.
